Morey Spellman’s photographs contrast light and shadow, strength and fragility, and masculine and feminine energies. Through self-portraiture, Morey constructs worlds that are outside of specific time and places. He is influenced by magical realism and evocative atmospheres, capturing introspective moments of reflection. Morey’s photos encourage the viewer to reflect through constructed and natural environments. As the subject of these photos, Morey serves as the human link or connection, allowing us to take part and navigate ambiguous settings seen through our own lived experiences.
